Additional Dwelling Units or pre-fabricated homes are a great investment. The passage of AB68 in California allows for homeowners of single family dwellings to apply for and build detached residential dwelling units (also called ADUs or second units or granny units) on their property.
A study concluded that ADU added an additional 25% to 34% to each property's assessed value. Furthermore, adding an ADU demonstrated an average of 51% increase in resale value.
There are many reasons why people build accessory dwelling units. Some build them to house members of their family while others build them to earn additional income through rent.
Regardless of the reason, the fact remains that an ADU is an excellent investment.
